SurgiFi is a personal finance website committed to helping others achieve financial independence via improved financial literacy.

I know SurgiFI is a lame name for blog, but, it works. It describes who I am. I am a surgeon who loves finance and I want to achieve financial independence. I also love teaching and I believe the world is lacking in financial literacy. So, I started a blog with the goal of teaching financial literacy while documenting my goal of achieving financial independence through the creation of generational wealth.

Generational wealth is wealth that is passed down from one generation to another through the accumulation of assets and minimizing of liabilities to provide generational financial security.  Now why is generational wealth important to me and why should you care about how your great great grand kids are going to survive financially? As an African-American, I am well that minorities in the US historically have lacked the opportunity and access to the levels of income, investments, and success needed to create generational wealth. I am aiming to change the narrative.

The formula is simple:

Wealth = Assets - Liabilities

This blog will focus on the solving the above equation. Our goal is to teach others how to obtain as many assets as possible while limiting your liabilities. This is easier said than done but I am going to give it a shot.
